This is a print reproduction of Once Was Known 9, a powerful original acrylic canvas (2012) by Palestinian artist Monther Jawabreh. Born in Al‑Aroub refugee camp in 1976 and educated at Al‑Najah National University, Jawabreh uses painting and experimental media to reframe symbols of resistance and identity in Palestinian life.

In this work, a figure draped in a crisp kuffiyah holds a blooming flower in a pot. The blue tones, vertical lines, and calm posture evoke hope amid layered struggle. It’s part of his Once Was Known series—where everyday scenes meet iconic symbolism to critique and humanize the myth of nationalism.

Kuffiyah holds exclusive copyright to publish and sell these prints. With every sale, a percentage of the profit goes directly to Monther Jawabreh and Bab al Deir Art Gallery, supporting creative infrastructure in Palestine.

You’re not happy with your order, you have 100 days to send us back any items - FREE.

To make a return, just mark the items you are sending back on the return form that came with your parcel, pack what you are returning, and use the enclosed return label to send back your items. Make sure to cover up or remove the original delivery bar code on the box.
